Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to create an account?

No. iNAK Remote has no sign-up or login — everything it remembers (paired TVs, settings, cast history) stays on your phone.

Which TV brands does this work with?

Samsung, LG, Roku, Sony, Panasonic, Philips, Vizio, Hisense, TCL, and Google TV sets are controllable out of the box. Other brands can often still be added manually from "My TV isn't listed" if you know the TV's IP address, though not every feature may work on every set.

Why wasn't my TV found automatically?

Your phone and TV need to be on the same Wi-Fi or LAN network. Some TVs — especially generic or unbranded ones — aren't detected by the automatic scan; add them by hand from "My TV isn't listed" instead.

Does casting upload my photos or videos anywhere?

No. Casting sends the file directly from your phone to your TV over your own network — nothing is uploaded to a server, and it never leaves your network.

Can I cast MOV, MKV, AVI, or WebM files, not just MP4?

Yes — pick any of these from the Videos button on the Cast tab. Whether playback actually works still depends on your TV's own hardware decoder, since the app doesn't convert video formats itself.

Why does the power button sometimes seem to do nothing, or turn the TV back off?

Turning a fully-off TV on remotely needs Wake-on-LAN, which requires the TV's network address to be on file and a matching setting (often called "Power On with Mobile") turned on in the TV's own network settings — that part can't be done remotely. Waking over Wi-Fi is also inherently less reliable than a wired connection.

Why do I see ads?

Ads support the free plan. Upgrading to Premium removes them, along with raising the one-TV pairing limit.

I lost my TV's remote — can I still pair or approve the app?

Yes, use the TV's own physical button to approve pairing when prompted. Pairing with those (and legacy Samsung TVs) requires pressing Allow on an on-screen prompt using the TV's own physical button, which can't be approved from the phone. Every other supported brand pairs without it — Roku and Panasonic pair instantly, Sony uses a key you set in the TV's own menu ahead of time, and Vizio/Hisense/TCL/Google TV/newer (2016+) Philips sets show a code on screen that you just read and type into the app.

My Roku TV won't respond to most buttons, even though it was found and paired

Check the TV's own Settings → System → Advanced system settings → Control by Mobile Apps, and set it to Default or Permissive rather than Limited/Disabled. Some Roku software updates default this to a restricted mode that blocks most remote-control apps — the app will tell you this directly the next time you press an affected button.

Why does a quick-launch app button (Netflix, YouTube, etc.) do nothing?

That app isn't installed on your TV — the app can launch it, but can't install it for you. Check the TV's own home screen or app store to confirm it's there.

How do I remove a paired TV or delete my data?

Use "Forget" on a TV from My TVs to remove just that one, or "Reset app data" in Settings to clear everything this app has stored on your phone.
